Short courses
Several days in a row, a guest teacher and one specific technique from start to finish. It isn't a single class or the monthly plan: you come to learn one thing and leave having made it.
There aren't any open right now
Short courses come in seasons: they depend on the teacher being able to come to the studio for several days. Write to us and we'll let you know as soon as the next one opens.
Let me know about the next oneWhat a short course is, and how it differs from a class
A class at the studio is one afternoon: each student gets on with whatever they have on the go and comes back the following week. A short course is the opposite: several days in a row devoted to a single technique, from preparing the clay to the finished piece, with someone who specialises in exactly that.
That's why they're intensive and why the number of places is capped. Working on the same piece for several days in a row takes space, tools and a teacher who can keep a close eye on everyone, so the places are what they are and no more get added.
You don't need to be a student at the studio or have a plan: a short course is paid for separately and you can come just for that. You don't need experience either, unless the course says so; they tend to start at the very beginning, precisely because they cover techniques hardly anyone has tried before.
Pieces leave unfired and are fired afterwards in the studio's kiln, which isn't included in the price and is discounted for anyone on the course. The studio lets you know when they're ready to collect.
